EDUSI -ELX

An EDUSI is an Urban Development Strategy.

Sustainable and Integrated.Projects financed by the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) that aim to strengthen socioeconomic cohesion within the European Union by correcting imbalances between its regions.

Obtaining an EDUSI is a commitment to achieve ambitious European objectives that affect the areas of employment, investment in R&D&I, education, energy and the fight against poverty.

The idea is to give a twist to the traditional concept of the city, to serve as an engine of change towards the future by setting guidelines that are shared by the administration and citizens.

And we are pleased to announce that the municipality of Elche is the Spanish urban area selected to develop one of these European projects. The EDUSI Elx involves an investment of 30 million euros to be financed fifty-fifty between the City Council of Elx and the ERDF Operational Program for Sustainable Growth 2014-2020. The foundations of the EDUSI Elx are the strategic urban planning and management process that has been developed in the municipality of Elche since 1996, giving continuity to it. The City Council of Elx is developing a local governance that places citizens at the center of municipal management, with the aim of involving them in the design and implementation of a smart, sustainable and inclusive city model.

EDUSI-Elx
aims to implement a total of 11 lines of action aimed at improving the conditions and quality of life of Elche and the people of Elche, paying special attention to the most vulnerable neighborhoods from a demographic, socioeconomic, environmental and residential point of view.

And to echo this development plan, we have taken it upon ourselves to prepare a exhibition detailing the actions to be carried out with EDUSI funds until 2023. which was presented yesterday at the Cultural Center of the Poor Clares by the mayor of the city, Carlos Gonzalez and the mayor of Institutional Representation Mireia Mollà. Exhibition that, in addition, is itinerant and that apart from being exposed in the historic center also wants to take to Carrús and, ultimately, to the different areas of the city where it will have a more intense impact EDUSI strategy.
