Dianivm, Daniya, Dénia… A city of the sea
The new permanent exhibition Dianivm, Daniya, Dénia… Una ciutat de mar estant moves the archaeological wealth of Dénia to its new space in the Palacio de la Duquesa Valero de Palma, a refurbished building in Cavallers street that, after a careful restoration process, houses the Archaeological Museum of Dénia. This new exhibition space is presented as an accessible environment open to the public, designed to preserve and disseminate the historical legacy of the city through an immersive and rigorous tour.
In this museographic proposal, visitors can discover the evolution of Dénia from Prehistory to the Modern Age, exploring its different historical periods and its relevance as a Mediterranean enclave. The exhibition starts in the first settlements of l’Alt de Benimaquia, offering a tangible testimony of the early occupation of the region. Through a tour structured in different rooms, archaeological remains are presented that narrate the transformation of Denia into an important commercial port, its splendor in the Islamic period and its integration into the economic and cultural networks of the Mediterranean.
A museum in constant evolution
This new museum not only responds to the need to preserve and disseminate the archaeological heritage of Denia, but is projected as a dynamic space in continuous expansion. With a vision for the future, the exhibition foresees the incorporation of new pieces and approaches, enriching the exhibition discourse and allowing a deeper understanding of the history of the city. This ability to adapt ensures that the Archaeological Museum of Denia remains a benchmark in the research and dissemination of the Mediterranean past.
