The international temporary exhibition “The Atlantic Warrior: Symbols of Power?” was held at the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ) in collaboration with the National Museum of Archaeology of Portugal (MNA). This innovative project focused on three exceptional pieces, declared National Treasures of Portugal, which were exhibited for the first time in Alicante. Among them were the Galaic Warrior from Castro Outeiro de Lezenho, a boar sculpture in granite from Olival dos Berrões, and the outstanding Torque de Vilas Boas, a piece of great historical value that was presented for the first time outside Portugal.
The exhibition was located in the Sala Noble of the MARQ Library. The museographic design focused on highlighting the importance and historical context of the artifacts through a strategic layout and the use of advanced technology. Audiovisual projections and interactive tools were incorporated to enrich the visitor’s experience, allowing a deeper understanding of the pieces and their cultural relevance.
An environment was created that balanced functionality and aesthetics, ensuring that each piece received the appropriate attention from platforms with individualized pedestals or showcases as topographies that contextualize these pieces in their territorial space. The ceiling of the exhibition presents, in an arrangement of continuous sheets, a schematic image of the zenithal view of the architectures of these villages, crowning the exhibition and bringing the traditional image that exists in the social ideology of these Galician villages and the castreña culture to the exhibition space.
The architectural intervention sought to offer an immersive experience, reflecting the historical significance of the exhibits.
